MORGAN CITY, La. — Mariners traveling through Berwick Bay along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway should prepare for a temporary closure of the BNSF Railroad Drawbridge while crews replace the bridge’s wire ropes.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the drawbridge will remain closed to marine traffic from 8 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, through midnight Thursday, November 5. The bridge will not open for vessels during that time.
A bridge tender will remain on-site throughout the closure and can provide updates on repair work and navigation conditions. All waterborne construction equipment will be removed from the main navigation channel at the end of each work period.
Vessel operators are encouraged to plan ahead and adjust their travel schedules to avoid delays.
