Houma Man Arrested for Labadieville Burglary and Theft of Boat

NAPOLEONVILLE – After a month-long investigation, Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of Larry James Moore, Jr., 49, of Houma, in connection with a burglary and boat theft in Labadieville.

On June 9, 2023, deputies responded to a report of a stolen boat from the 2400 block of LA 308 in Labadieville. The property owner had been hospitalized, and a complainant discovered the boat missing during a check on the property. The last time the boat was seen in the shed was approximately two weeks prior.

The following day, Thibodaux City Police Officers located the stolen boat, motor, and trailer at 217 North 13th Street in Thibodaux. The recovered items were seized as evidence.

Through collaborative investigative efforts, deputies and detectives identified Larry James Moore, Jr. as the suspect in the theft. Warrants for his arrest were obtained on June 15, 2023.

On May 23, 2024, Moore was apprehended on the outstanding Assumption Parish warrant and transferred to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Moore was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. He remains incarcerated awaiting a bond hearing.
