Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announces the apprehension of three individuals in connection with a disturbance in Bayou L’Ourse. Erick Ryan Ballance, 22, of Thibodaux; Hayleigh Nicole Martin, 22, of Morgan City; and Laiten Michelle Bertrand, 18, of Berwick have been arrested on charges stemming from an incident that took place early Saturday morning.
Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of LA 662 following reports of a large-scale altercation. Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement officers encountered multiple individuals involved in the altercation and successfully confiscated a firearm that was allegedly brandished during the incident.
An investigation revealed that Erick Ryan Ballance was the individual who possessed and displayed the firearm during the altercation. Consequently, he was taken into custody and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Ballance faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace. He has since been released on a $25,000 bond.
Hayleigh Nicole Martin, believed to be an accessory to the aggravated assault, was also apprehended and incarcerated at the Assumption Parish Detention Center. She faces charges of principal to aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace. Martin, too, has been released on a $25,000 bond.
Laiten Michelle Bertrand was also arrested on charges of principal to aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace. Following her arrest, Bertrand was incarcerated at the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Similar to Ballance and Martin, she was also released on a $25,000 bond.
