ST. MARY PARISH, La. — Families across St. Mary Parish can take advantage of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, a free book-gifting program designed to encourage a love of reading in young children.
The St. Mary Parish Library serves as the local affiliate for the program, which provides one free, age-appropriate book every month to registered children from birth through age five. Books are mailed directly to the child’s home at no cost to the family.
Library officials say registration takes less than five minutes, and families can check eligibility and enroll online. The program is supported through funding from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library along with local businesses, organizations, foundations and donors.
The St. Mary Parish Library says the program is aimed at helping children build early literacy skills while also creating excitement around receiving and reading books at home.
