Pierre Part Woman Arrested in Connection with Vehicle Burglary

PIERRE PART, La. — An Assumption Parish woman is behind bars after deputies say she burglarized a vehicle parked at a residence in Pierre Part.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of Melissa J. Baldwin, 49, of Pierre Part, following an investigation into a vehicle burglary reported on June 24, 2026, on Simone Street.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence after the victim discovered that a vehicle parked in the driveway had been broken into and items had been stolen.

As the investigation progressed, deputies identified Baldwin as the suspect. She was located in Pierre Part on Saturday and taken into custody.

Baldwin was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

  • Simple Burglary of a Motor Vehicle
  • Criminal Trespass
  • Theft

She remains incarcerated with bond set at $68,000.
