BALDWIN, La. — A Baldwin man is behind bars after a major narcotics seizure near Branch Street Park led to the discovery of drugs, a firearm, and other contraband, according to Baldwin Police Chief Anthony Gibson.
Police say officers approached several individuals near the rear of a residence on Branch Street on April 22, 2026, when they encountered a subject known to have an outstanding warrant. After officers detected illegal narcotics, a K-9 unit with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office was called in to conduct an open-air sniff of a nearby vehicle, which led to a positive alert.
Authorities say a search of the vehicle uncovered approximately 5.6 pounds of marijuana, 1.4 pounds of methamphetamine, 56 grams of synthetic marijuana, 25 MDMA pills, 6 grams of crack cocaine, THC vape products, promethazine, and a loaded firearm.
Antoine F. Jones, also known as “Midget,” was arrested and booked on multiple felony drug and weapons charges, including possession with intent to distribute several controlled substances, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled dangerous substances, and drug paraphernalia charges.
Jones was transported to the St. Mary Law Enforcement Center, where bond was set at $1,002,500.
Chief Gibson commended Baldwin officers and the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for their work in the investigation.
