MORGAN CITY MAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE NARCOTICS AND FIREARM CHARGES

Morgan City, La. – Chief Chad M. Adams announced the arrest of Joey Jermaine Francois, 45, of Aucoin Street in Morgan City, following a narcotics investigation conducted by the Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division.

On the morning of February 16, 2026, narcotics detectives conducted a traffic stop involving Francois. During the course of the investigation, detectives also executed a narcotics search warrant at his residence on Aucoin Street.

Authorities report that during the traffic stop and subsequent search of the residence, detectives located and seized:

Suspected illegal narcotics
Drug paraphernalia
U.S. currency believed to be proceeds from narcotics transactions
A firearm
Francois was taken into custody without incident.

Francois was charged with the following offenses:

Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
Operating a Vehicle with a Suspended License
Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Methamphetamine (over 28 grams)
Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana
Transactions Involving Proceeds from Drug Offenses
Violation of a Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substances Law – Drug-Free Zone
Possession of Schedule II Fentanyl
Possession of Schedule IV Phentermine
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Possession of a Legend Drug

During processing, detectives determined Francois had multiple outstanding warrants.
Through the 6th Ward City Court, he had warrants for Failure to Appear to Pay Fines on the following dates:

December 9, 2025
January 14, 2026
January 13, 2026 (two counts)
November 4, 2025
February 13, 2025
January 13, 2025

Additionally, Francois had an outstanding warrant through the St. Mary’s Parish Sheriff’s Office for Failure to Appear on April 16, 2025.

Francois was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for processing and later booked into the Morgan City Jail.

The Morgan City Police Department stated it remains committed to aggressively investigating narcotics-related offenses and removing illegal drugs and firearms from the community.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
