ST. MARY PARISH, La. – Congressman Clay Higgins announced the approval of Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funding that will benefit St. Mary Parish as part of a larger South Louisiana disaster recovery effort. The funding comes as part of a broader package totaling more than $326 million in reimbursements approved for hurricane recovery projects across Louisiana’s 3rd Congressional District.
Under the newly authorized funds, St. Mary Parish will receive:
$1,173,603 for electrical substation repairs in Morgan City.
$1,018,323 for emergency protective measures at Central Catholic School in the Diocese of Houma-Thibodaux.

The FEMA reimbursements are intended to cover disaster-related expenses incurred from hurricanes including Laura, Zeta, Ida and Francine, offering financial relief to local governments and non-profit organizations working to restore infrastructure and services after significant storm impacts.
Higgins highlighted the importance of federal support in helping communities recover, noting that the fight to secure these resources involves long-term cooperation with state and local authorities. All federal funds will be delivered to the State of Louisiana, which is responsible for distributing them to eligible local entities.
This latest round of federal assistance adds to previously announced recovery investments aimed at strengthening Louisiana communities against future disasters and helping them rebuild after severe weather events.
