AMELIA, La. — Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reported the arrest of Leonardo Hernandez, 21, of Houma, following a traffic stop Saturday on U.S. 90 in Amelia.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, a special operations unit observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop. A deputy made contact with the driver, later identified as Hernandez, and conducted an officer–violator interview.
During the investigative stop, deputies determined that Hernandez was in possession of fraudulent identification documents, including a United States Social Security card and a Texas driver’s license, authorities said.

Further investigation revealed that Hernandez was in the United States illegally and had an active order of removal. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was contacted, and a warrant/detainer was issued.
