Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Morgan City Man in Assumption Parish

PIERRE PART — Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of Benjamin David Vining, 29, of 1515 Nevada Street in Morgan City, following a traffic stop in Pierre Part.

According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, a uniformed patrol deputy observed a westbound vehicle traveling 64 miles per hour in a posted 45-mile-per-hour zone on LA 70. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Vining.
A warrants check revealed Vining was wanted by the Morgan City Police Department on a Contempt of Court warrant for Failure to Appear and failure to begin serving a court-mandated sentence in St. Mary Parish.

Vining was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of Contempt of Court – Failure to Appear to Begin Serving a Sentence related to a traffic and aggravated flight incident in Morgan City.

Vining remains incarcerated pending transfer to the Morgan City Police Department.
