Houma, La. – Louisiana State Police Troop C is investigating a two-vehicle fatal crash that occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 57 and Thompson Road in Terrebonne Parish.

The crash claimed the life of 36-year-old Pernell Naquin of Houma.

According to the preliminary investigation, a 2021 Buick Encore was traveling southbound on LA Highway 57 while a 2008 Honda Civic, driven by Naquin, was traveling northbound. For reasons still under investigation, the Buick failed to yield at the intersection, entered the roadway, and was struck by the approaching Honda.

Naquin was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Buick was also unrestrained, suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to an out-of-area hospital for treatment.

Routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers and will be submitted for analysis as part of the ongoing investigation.

While not all crashes are survivable, Louisiana State Police stress that properly wearing a seat belt significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or death. Louisiana law requires all vehicle occupants, regardless of seating position, to wear a seat belt at all times.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
