TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — December 15, 2025 — Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Lockport mother and son following a video voyeurism investigation at Southland Mall.
The investigation began on December 11, 2025, shortly after 12:30 p.m., when deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to reports of a disturbance at the mall. Callers reported a male suspect had been seen taking photographs inside a women’s restroom.
Deputies spoke with a female victim who reported that a male suspect took photos of her and her 8-year-old child while they were inside separate restroom stalls. The victim confronted the suspect as he exited the restroom, at which point he fled on foot. The victim and her son chased the suspect into the parking lot, where he entered the passenger side of a vehicle.
As the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, it struck a parked vehicle before leaving the area. The victim was able to provide deputies with the vehicle’s license plate information.
During the initial response, deputies identified another female victim at the scene. Authorities also secured video evidence, which later helped confirm the identities of both the male suspect and the female driver.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Criminal Intelligence Division assisted in the investigation. Detectives identified the suspect vehicle, and with help from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, located it on Barrileaux Street in Lockport. Two residents were taken into custody for questioning.
Authorities identified the driver as Krystal Lynn Detillier, 33, and the passenger as Karsyn Patrick Smith, 18. Investigators determined Detillier had no prior knowledge of the incident inside the mall. However, she admitted to striking a parked vehicle while fleeing the scene and was issued a summons for Hit-and-Run Driving before being released.
During questioning, Smith admitted to entering the women’s restroom and intentionally recording video of female victims inside restroom stalls. Smith’s cellular phone was seized as evidence.
As a result of the investigation, Karsyn Patrick Smith was arrested and charged with three counts of Video Voyeurism. He remains incarcerated at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex with bond set at $100,000.
The identities of the victims are not being released due to investigative concerns.
“Crimes involving the exploitation and violation of personal privacy, especially when children are involved, will be aggressively investigated by our agency,” said Sheriff Tim Soignet. “We appreciate the swift actions of the victims and the cooperation of our deputies and partner agencies that led to the suspect’s arrest.”
Arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
