Morgan City Man Arrested in Connection with Series of Fires and Property Crimes

MORGAN CITY, La. — A Morgan City man has been arrested in connection with a string of arson attempts, thefts, and property damage incidents reported across the city over the past two weeks, according to the Morgan City Police Department.

Brittan Boudreaux, 41, of Elizabeth Drive, was taken into custody on November 11, 2025, at 11:37 a.m. and booked on multiple charges, including:

Simple Arson
Attempted Simple Arson
Theft Under $1,000
Simple Criminal Damage to Property
Criminal Mischief – Tampering with Property (2 counts)
Criminal Trespass (3 counts)

The investigation began on November 3, 2025, when officers responded to a report of fire damage to a building in the Brashear Avenue area. Responding units discovered that someone had attempted to start fires on the exterior of two nearby businesses.

In the days that followed, police received additional reports of suspicious activity, including surveillance camera tampering and thefts at multiple business locations throughout Morgan City.

On November 6, 2025, officers were called to another scene where a garbage can had been set on fire in the Swamp Gardens area. A photo of a possible suspect was released to the public, prompting further investigation that ultimately identified Brittan Boudreaux as the individual believed to be responsible for the incidents.
On November 11, 2025, officers located Boudreaux and took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Morgan City Police Department, where he was booked and is currently awaiting judicial proceedings.

The Morgan City Police Department expressed appreciation to the public for its assistance in the investigation and urged residents to continue reporting suspicious activity to help keep the community safe.
