Suspect Arrested in Connection with October Shooting in Pierre Part

PIERRE PART – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon has announced the arrest of Paul H. Blanchard, Jr., 60, of 592 Bayou Drive West, Pierre Part, on multiple felony charges connected to a shooting that occurred on October 16, 2025, in the 600 block of Bayou Drive West.

According to Sheriff Falcon, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at the residence that day, which ultimately resulted in an officer-involved shooting. In accordance with protocol, the Louisiana State Police were called in to conduct the investigation.

Following their investigation, State Police obtained arrest warrants for Blanchard on October 22, 2025, charging him with the following offenses:

Two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder

Hate Crimes

Aggravated Burglary

Three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer

Blanchard had remained hospitalized since the incident and was discharged on November 4, 2025. He was then booked on the above charges and transferred to a Louisiana state prison facility for continued medical care in the prison infirmary.

Blanchard remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Sheriff Falcon confirmed that the investigation into the shooting and related circumstances remains ongoing.
