TERREBONNE PARISH, La. — Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet is asking for the public’s help as investigators mark five years since the unsolved killing of Jardney Dior Bell, who was fatally shot in Thibodaux in 2020.

On October 31, 2020, just before 11:45 p.m., Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to reports of gunfire on Cortez Street. When they arrived, they found a vehicle that had crashed into a ditch. Inside, deputies discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was later identified as 30-year-old Jardney Dior Bell of Thibodaux. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he underwent treatment but sadly died from his injuries on November 6, 2020.

Since the night of the shooting, detectives with the TPSO Violent Crimes Division have worked tirelessly to pursue every lead and piece of evidence. Despite years of investigation, the case remains unsolved — and investigators continue to believe that someone in the community has information that could help bring justice to Bell’s family.

Sheriff Soignet said the case remains a top priority for his office.

> “This investigation remains deeply important to our agency and to the Bell family,” Sheriff Soignet said. “We believe someone in our community holds information that could help bring closure to this case and deliver justice for Jardney Bell. We are once again asking anyone who knows something — no matter how small it may seem — to come forward.”

The Sheriff’s Office is renewing attention on the case in hopes of generating new leads and encouraging community members to share any information they may have.

Anyone with information regarding the 2020 homicide of Jardney Dior Bell is urged to contact the TPSO Criminal Intelligence Division at (985) 876-2500. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers Bayou Region by calling 1-800-743-7433, visiting www.CrimeStoppersBR.org, or using the Bayou Tips mobile app.
