Franklin, Louisiana – A groundbreaking ceremony took place today at the Historic Franklin Foundation Hospital building, which is currently undergoing renovations to become The Avenue Apartments, a new housing development for seniors in Franklin and St. Mary Parish. The project is being developed by New Orleans Restoration Properties.
The initiative began in 2021 when Beverly Domangeaux, Executive Director of the St. Mary Parish Council on Aging, reached out to the Mayor’s office to discuss the need for senior housing. This conversation sparked a collaboration with New Orleans Restoration Properties and a coalition of community partners, including the Community Action Agency, Teche Health, and various local officials.
Mayor of Franklin emphasized the importance of such revitalization projects, noting that they contribute to making the city a better place over time. The Avenue Apartments aim to provide essential housing for the senior community, reflecting the ongoing commitment to community development in the area.
