Sheriff Craig Webre announced that three inmates have been charged as part of an ongoing investigation into contraband smuggling at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex.

Inmates Kelvin Davis, 23, David Bonds, 36, and Daquan Nash, 29, now face additional charges related to the scheme. Earlier this week, former correctional officer Natacia Brown, 20, of Thibodaux, was arrested and fired for her alleged role in the operation.

The investigation began last week after facility administrators uncovered evidence that Brown participated in a contraband transaction coordinated outside the jail. She allegedly brought items into the facility and provided them to an inmate. A second attempt involving drugs was also discovered.

Brown was arrested and booked on multiple charges including taking contraband to a penal institution, attempted taking of contraband, and malfeasance in office. She was released on October 15 after posting $150,000 bail.

Further investigation revealed the involvement of the three inmates:

Kelvin Davis, currently serving a sentence for second-degree murder, was charged with taking contraband to a penal institution. He is also facing charges including 11 counts of simple burglary of a motor vehicle and illegal possession of stolen things.

David Bonds, previously held on charges including attempted second-degree murder and firearm possession by a convicted felon, was charged as a principal to taking contraband to a penal institution. His bail is now set at $700,000, and he is also being held as a parole violator.

Daquan Nash, in custody for numerous drug and weapons offenses, was charged with attempted taking of contraband to a penal institution. His bail is now set at $2.594 million. He is also being held as a fugitive from Assumption and Terrebonne Parishes, in addition to parole violations.

Sheriff Webre confirmed the investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are expected.
