St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office Addresses Rumor of Active Shooter at Local Business

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office has addressed a rumor regarding a so-called active shooter at a local business.

In a statement released to the media Tuesday morning, St. Mary Parish Sheriffs Office Public Information Officer David Spencer said,  “A subject made threats about committing an act of violence at a local business in Bayou Vista. Deputies were sent to secure the business, and the Berwick Police Department located the subject and has him in custody. There is no threat to the public at this time.

The rumor we have seen on Facebook is that there “is an active shooter” at a local business. That is not the case.”
