Suspect Wanted for February Homicide in New Iberia

At 6:12 p.m. on February 22, 2024, the New Iberia Police Department began investigating a homicide in the 400 block of Calhoun Street.

The incident took the life of 19-year-old Madison Olivier of New Iberia.

As a result of the investigation, Detectives obtained arrest warrants for 21-year-old Lamarson James Benoit on the charges of:
First Degree Murder
Attempted First Degree Murder
Illegal Use of Weapons
Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon
Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property
Possession of a Firearm in a Firearm Free Zone

Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Benoit is asked to contact the New Iberia Police Department.
Any person or persons harboring, causing hindrance, delay, or the prevention of information relating to the arrest or potential arrest of Benoit will be arrested and charged accordingly.
