Suspect Wanted by New Iberia Police for Second Degree Murder

The New Iberia Police Department (NIPD) began investigating a shooting that occurred on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at around 2:15 p.m. in the 1200 block of Parkview Drive.
Upon arrival, responding officers located a 22-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was initially transported by Acadian Ambulance to a local hospital, then later airlifted by Air Med to a Lafayette hospital. That afternoon, NIPD was notified that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives responded to the scene and immediately began their investigation. By the evening of July 28, 2025, they had gathered sufficient evidence and information to identify the individual responsible for the shooting.
Arrest Warrants have been issued for 24-year-old Jahari Ajani Allen, Jr. Allen is currently wanted for Second Degree Murder.
Allen is considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS.
