St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 36 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Latasha Tenica Jones, 40, Berwick, LA, was arrested on August 8, 2022, at 6:50 am on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of unlawful sale of tobacco to a person under 18. Jones was released on a $500 bond.
Delvin Devon Darby, 29, Franklin, LA, was arrested on August 8, 2022, at 2:17 pm on an Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant for failure to appear on the charge of second-degree rape. Darby is being held for another agency.
Malika Paxton Hines, 36, Jeanerette, LA, was arrested on August 8, 2022, at 4:58 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of possession of synthetic cannabinoids. Hines was released on a $100 bond.
Dejuan C. Bias Jr., 30, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on August 8, 2022, at 9:37 pm on a warrant for failure to appear on the following charges:
- Theft
- Identity theft
- Driving under suspension
- No tail lights
Hines was released on a $100 bond.
NARCOTICS SECTION
Chad Williams, 33, Berwick, LA, was arrested on August 8, 2022, at 7:28 pm on the following charges:
- Improper lane usage
- No license plate
- Driving under suspension
- No motorcycle endorsement
- Resisting an officer
- Illegal possession of stolen things over $5,000
- Possession of schedule II (crack cocaine)
Hines was released on a $100 bond.
All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
