St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 27 complaints and reports the following arrests:
UPDATED ARREST:
Cameron Nicholas Strother, 22, Berwick, LA, was arrested on March 25, 2023, at 5:23 pm on the following charges:
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute
- No child restraint
- Possession of firearm in the presence of CDS
- Possession of CDS in the presence of person under 17
- Possession of THC wax
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of firearm-felon
- Illegal use of CDS in presence of persons under 17
Strother also held an active warrant with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Strother was later additionally charged on a Patterson Police Department warrant for the charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, battery of a dating partner, domestic abuse child endangerment law, and attempted second-degree murder.
On March 25, 2023, all SMPSO units were advised of a BOLO from the Patterson Police Department for a vehicle driven by Strother. Dispatch advised that the PPD information was that Strother had pushed a female passenger out of the vehicle at a local business in Patterson and fled with a juvenile in the vehicle. The BOLO information further advised that Strother may be armed.
Moments later, deputies observed a vehicle matching the BOLO description, conducted a traffic stop, and made contact with the driver who was identified as Strother.
Through the stop, drugs and handguns were found in the vehicle, along with a young juvenile who was not properly restrained in a child safety seat.
The drugs and firearms were seized, and Strother was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Bail was set at $400,000.
The SMPSO would like to thank the Patterson Police Department for their quick BOLO that was issued in this incident which led to the traffic stop and subsequent arrest of Strother.
Stephanie Marie Vincent, 54, New Iberia, LA, was arrested on March 27, 2023, at 11:30 pm on the following charges:
- Possession of cocaine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of methamphetamines
Bail has not been set at this time.
NARCOTICS SECTION
Matthew Taylor Rollins, 29, Patterson, LA, was arrested on March 27, 2023, at 11:50 am for possession of schedule I (Heroin), obstruction of justice, and on a warrant for the following charges:
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of MDMA
- Possession of legend drug
- Possession of methamphetamine
Bail has not been set at this time.
All persons arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
