NEW ORLEANS — On Monday at approximately 5:30 p.m., the US Coast Guard called off its search for a commercial fisherman who went missing about 138 miles southwest of Port Fourchon, Louisiana.

Over a span of 46 hours, crews covered more than 2000 square miles in their search efforts. Various resources were employed, including:

– U.S. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry
– U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry
– U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Jacob Poroo
– Good Samaritan commercial fishing vessel Kenneth Cole

Despite deploying multiple assets, the Coast Guard decided to suspend the search after thoroughly covering the most likely search area. Officials are currently investigating the incident further.
