New Orleans – A 35-year-old fisherman fell overboard from the commercial vessel Miss Winnie, located about 138 miles southwest of Port Fourchon, Louisiana, prompting the Coast Guard to initiate a search operation on Saturday.

Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders were alerted at 2:00 a.m. by a report from the Kenneth Cole vessel, which informed them of the incident involving Miss Winnie.

In response, District Eight watchstanders dispatched an Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew, an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew, and the Coast Guard Cutter Jacob Poroo.

An urgent marine information broadcast was also issued to alert mariners in the area. The Coast Guard will keep monitoring weather conditions and continue searching as long as conditions allow.
