Russel J. Cremaldi passed away peacefully at the age of 73 surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at his home in Patterson.
Russel was a lifelong resident of Patterson and was the third of five children born to Gus and Mary Jane Cremaldi. Following high school, he attended LSU where he received his Juris Doctorate. Russel practiced law for over 49 years, serving the parish of St. Mary in many capacities. But most importantly he was a generous man with a servant’s heart and will be dearly missed.
His memory will be forever etched upon the hearts of his four siblings, JoAnn C. Bourgeois, Lucien M. Cremaldi, Palma C. Shaver and her husband John, and John M. Cremaldi and his wife Maureen; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cosimo M. “Gus” Cremaldi and Mary Jane Cardinale Cremaldi; his maternal grandparents, Russell Cardinale and Palma Bordonaro Cardinale; his paternal grandparents, Lucian Cremaldi and Josephine Letto Cremaldi; and his sister-in-law, Elaine R. Calmenson Cremaldi.
The family requests visiting hours be observed at Ibert’s Mortuary in Patterson on Tuesday evening from 5:30 PM until time of rosary at 7:30 PM. Visiting hours will resume at Ibert’s Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until time of dismissal at 12:30 PM.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson during a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Following the Mass, Russel will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Michael Russo will be the Celebrant for the Mass with Father Angelo Cremaldi, his uncle, and Father Herb Bennerfield concelebrating.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Russel’s many caregivers who have been of so much help during his time of need.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made in Russel’s name to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1011 First Street, Patterson, LA 70392.
