Becker’s Hospital Review named Elmore Patterson, chief executive officer (CEO) of Ochsner St. Mary as a member of 149 Black Healthcare Leaders to Know.

Mr. Patterson began his career with Ochsner in 2022. He manages the day-to-day operations of Ochsner St. Mary as the 167-bed hospital’s CEO. He is in charge of ensuring operational excellence, physician and employee engagement and Ochsner St. Mary’s strategic market position. He came to Ochsner Health from Saint Luke’s Health System Allen County Regional Hospital (ACRH) and Anderson County Hospital in Southeast Kansas. He has gained positions of increasing responsibility in the healthcare industry, including hospital administrator, executive director, nursing home administrator, and director of facilities and operations.
Mr. Patterson earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Marketing Management from Savannah State University, as well as a Master of Health Service Administration degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University. Earlier in his career, he worked as a 1st Lieutenant, Health Services Materiel Officer, Captain, Health Services Personnel Officer, and Major, Army Medical Recruiting Station Officer in Charge in the United States Army Medical Department.
