On Thursday, February 9, 2023, Nellie Marie Kirt entered eternal rest, peacefully amongst family to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. No, the tears won’t stop falling, however we know that God will wipe away every tear and heal all broken hearts.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at  11:00 AM at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, 1101 Main St., Franklin, LA.

Nellie Marie Kirt was born on Saturday, January 30, 1943, in Verdunville, Louisiana to Earl and Naomi Kirt Sr. She was the 3rd child out of 5 siblings. With her dad being the deacon of Little Zion Baptist Church, she was taught about the bible and learned the teachings of Christ. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior as a young adult. While in Verdunville, she attended Verdunville Elementary and later attended Willow Street High School where she graduated in 1961. Upon graduation, she moved to Galveston, Texas and became a Nurse’s Aide while attending UTMB in Galveston. After long hours of study, she received her LVN license around 1970 and started working in the field that she so loved – Nursing: She loved helping people get better. While in the Nursing filed, she worked at several hospitals: Park Plaza, St. Elizabeth, Memorial Hermann, and MD Anderson which she would retire from.

She leaves to cherish her memories and never to mourn: Son, Dr. Quantriay “Quan” Kirt (Anthalone), Son, Jusnz Kirt Sr. (O’Keima), 7 grandchildren;  (2) great-granddaughters,  (1) brother, Eugene Kirt, (2) sisters, Ida Prevost and Sarah Sweet and a host of nieces, nephews and friends

She is preceded in death by her parents: Earl and Naomi Kirt Sr and one brother, Earl Kirt Jr.
