December 18, 1990 – November 3, 2021

Mark Anthony LaPoint, a native of Morgan City and resident of Baton Rouge, was unexpectedly called to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the young age of 30.

Mark was a big loving teddy bear who adored his family. He was the best kind of son, brother, and friend. The kind of person who would give the shirt off his own back if it helped another, Mark was never concerned with the idea of being owed anything back. He was also kind and always willing to lend an ear to anyone. Fully focused, Mark was always attentive to who was speaking to him and would always give share his thoughts in hopes of helping. His advice was always wise, loving, thoughtful and most importantly selfless.

Those left to cherish Mark’s beautiful memory are his father, Mark LaPoint Sr. and his wife, Twila; his mother, Lisa Ackman; his siblings, Lacy LaPoint, Kelsie Berthelot, Clayton LaPoint, Karmen LaPoint, Ethan Melancon, and Paityn Wells; his nephew and niece, Colton Lapoint & Aubrianna Hernandez; his maternal grandmother, Diana Ackman; his paternal grandfather, Alvin LaPoint Sr.; his godparents, Angela Thibodeaux and her husband, Bart, and William LaPoint; his aunts and uncles, Herbert Ackman Jr. and his wife, Rachel, Mechelle Ackman, Jason Ackman and his fiancé Ann Morris, and Alvin LaPoint Jr. and his wife, Christine; his beloved pet, Koko. He is also survived by numerous cousins and friends.

He was greeted in heaven by his maternal grandfather, Herbert Ackman Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Linda LaPoint and his great grandparents.

The family requests that a time of visitation be observed on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 6pm until 9pm at Hargrave Funeral Home with a rosary starting the visitation at 6pm. Visitation will resume, Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 8am until time of services, with a celebration of Mark’s life beginning at 11am with Pastor Stephanie Francis officiating. Mark will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery following services.

Acting as pallbearers will be Jason Ackman, Herbert Ackman, Bart Thibodeaux, Patrick Thibodeaux, Alvin LaPoint Jr., Cody LaPoint, Trampas LaPoint, and William LaPoint Jr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Ackman and Charles Benoit.

The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Pastor Stephanie Francis for her support, love and guidance she has provided to both Mark and themselves.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to assist in the alleviation of funeral expenses.
