Baton Rouge, LA – In response to the recent winter storm affecting Louisiana, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) continues to apply de-icing materials to bridges across the state, and the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ArDOT) is assisting with snow plow crews on major routes in the impacted areas.

The plows are currently working major routes in the southern part of the state, clearing snow and ice to facilitate safe travel for the public.

Motorists are urged to avoid any unnecessary travel. In the event that you must travel, the public is reminded to exercise patience and caution. If you encounter these snow plows, keep the following tips in mind:

  • Keep a safe distance.
  • Slow down, as snow plows are slow-moving vehicles.
  • Don’t assume plow drivers see you.

DOTD crews will continue to monitor state bridges and roadways. For the most up-to-date road status information, DOTD offers motorists various resources:

  • 511 Traveler Information: Travelers can find information regarding road closures by downloading the Louisiana 511 mobile app or by visiting the 511 Traveler Information website at www.511la.org. This website is updated in real time with changing road conditions.
  • MyDOTD: Motorists can receive up-to-date information on local projects, lane and road closures, and other DOTD activity by signing up for MyDOTD at www.dotd.la.gov.
  • Social Media: Find DOTD on social media for updates and information. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Xand Instagram.
