John C. Fore Jr., a native of Texas and a longtime resident of St. Mary Parish, passed away peacefully at the age of 75 with his wife by his side in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
John was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in combat during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device, Combat Action Medal, as well as the Purple Heart for injuries received during an ambush. Following his military service, he began working for Kramer, Thomas, and Miller Engineers as a part time inspector while attending USL, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He retired from Miller Engineers & Associates after 41 years of dedicated service. Some of his favorite pastimes include woodworking as well as watching old westerns. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Chris Lanclos Fore; one son, Matthew John Fore; one daughter, Janelle Fore Zetty and her husband Joseph; four grandchildren, Sean Fore, Aaron Fore, Simon Zetty, and Kaylee Zetty; his mother, Louise Roberts Fore; his sister, Mary Fore Peppard; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John C. Fore Sr.; and one sister, Martha Fore Thibodaux.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Centerville Presbyterian Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps. Those honored as pallbearers include Sean Fore, Aaron Fore, Simon Zetty, Blaise Segura, Ty Segura, Justin Soniat, Courtney Vincent, Blake Vincent, Jules Darden, with Steve Lanclos, and Travis Broussard as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, John would prefer contributions to be made to two organizations that were close to his heart: Fisher House Foundation, PO Box 791598, Baltimore, MD 21279 or to the Navy – Marine Corps Relief Society, Attn. Development Dept., 875 N. Randolph St., Suite 225, Arlington, VA 22203.
