Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office Makes Additional Arrest in Stolen Military Veteran Grave Markers

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the New Iberia Police Department, has made progress in an investigation involving the theft of military veteran grave markers from cemeteries in Iberia Parish.

Michael “Dookie” Shockley Jr. (34 years old), was arrested following the joint investigation. Shockley admitted to detectives that he was responsible for removing the grave markers. He has been booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges:

LA RS 14:255 Institutional Vandalism
LA RS 14:62M Simple Burglary
LA RS 14:101 Desecration of Graves

Bond has not been set at this time.

Another suspect, Richard Paul Brower (48 years old), remains at large and is wanted in connection with this case. Law enforcement agencies urge anyone who sees Brower or has information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-369-3711 or call 911 immediately.

This investigation is ongoing, and no further details are available at this time.
