Iberia Parish Authorities Arrest Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office announced today that they have apprehended a suspect in an ongoing homicide case. Albert James III, a 51-year-old male, was arrested on multiple charges including second degree murder, failure to register as a sex offender, theft of a motor vehicle, domestic abuse battery (with an outstanding warrant), and three counts of failure to appear in court.

On the evening of December 17, 2023, officers from the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence on Boutte Road in Loreauville after receiving reports of suspicious activity. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators discovered the body of a female who had been fatally stabbed inside the home.

The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office enlisted the support of the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office Real-time Crime Unit and AFIS Unit, along with assistance from the Lafayette Police Department. Together, they successfully located and captured Albert James III within Lafayette Parish. Following his arrest, James was taken into custody and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail where he currently awaits a decision on his bond status.
