HOUMA, La. — Aug. 27, 2026 — A 25-year-old Houma man has been arrested as the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office investigates allegations of sexual assault involving a juvenile.
Sheriff Tim Soignet said deputies responded Thursday to a residence on the east side of Houma after receiving information about alleged inappropriate sexual contact between a juvenile and an adult male.
During the initial investigation, deputies learned the man was reportedly a former coach of the juvenile. Authorities identified the suspect as Zachariah Jerry Trujillo, 25, of Houma.
Detectives with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit took over the investigation and later brought Trujillo in for questioning. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Trujillo made statements acknowledging his involvement in a sexual relationship with the juvenile, who authorities said was his former student.
Trujillo was arrested and booked on five counts of second-degree rape. He remains in custody in Terrebonne Parish on a $1 million bond set by local judges.
Sheriff Soignet said the investigation remains active and is still in its early stages. He emphasized that allegations involving juveniles are taken seriously, especially when they involve someone who was in a position of trust.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information about the case or any potentially related conduct to contact the TPSO Detective Division at 985-876-2500.
