Gary R. Sargee Sr., 70, a resident of Patterson, passed away on January 24, 2022 at Ochsner St. Mary Hospital.
Gary was born on May 23, 1951 in Ville Platte, Louisiana, the son of Claudie Sargee Sr. and Betty Jo Stage Sargee.
Gary was avid fan of the LSU Fighting Tigers and loved watching Tiger football on Saturday nights. He enjoyed reading books, but especially loved reading his daily newspaper. Gary knew his way around the kitchen, always cooking for his family, from boiling crawfish to BBQing. Striking up a conversation with someone was always easy for Gary, as he loved people, and he truly never met a stranger. Gary could often times be found outside working in his yard, which was something he loved to do.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 46 years, Marlene Boudreaux Sargee of Patterson; three children, Becky Bourdier and husband Travis, Gary Sargee Jr. and wife Sandy and Samantha Sargee, all of Patterson; seven grandchildren, Skylar Daniels and husband Zac of Lafayette, Tyler Bourdier, Christian Sargee and wife Caitlin, Evan Sargee, Carson Sargee, Averie Sargee all of Patterson, Claire Holt of Houma; two great grandchildren, Cohen Sargee and Addilyn Sargee; five siblings, Kennon Sargee of Morgan City, Linda Purdion and fiancé Bill Nink of Cypress, Texas, Claudie Sargeee Jr. and wife Margaret of Milton, Rhonda Comeaux and husbandPerry of Labadieville, Marjorie Turner and husband Harris of Bunkie. Gary is also survived by four brothers and sisters-in-law, Homer Boudreaux Jr. and wife Debra, Justillia “Terri” Boudreaux, both of Patterson, Tammy Rodriguez and husband Chris of Waveland, Mississippi and Carl Boudreaux and wife Malinda of Morgan City; numerous nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Homer Boudreaux Sr. and Alma Bertrand Boudreaux; one brother and sister-in-law, Jerry K. Sargee and wife Karen; two brothers-in-law, Grachel Boudreaux and David Purdion; one sister-in-law, Edith Boudreaux.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Christian Sargee, Tyler Bourdier, Evan Sargee, Carson Sargee, Brandon Rodriguez and Derek Orgeron. Honorary pallbearers will be Skylar Daniels, Claire Holt and Averie Sargee.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Twin City Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Kelly officiating. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service; and following the services, Gary will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
