Franklin Man Charged with Shooting Incident in Jeanerette

On May 6, 2025, at approximately 9:08 pm, Officers responded to the area of St. Charles St. and Domingue St. in reference to shots fired.

Upon arrival, Officers secured the area and searched for suspects along with the assistance of surrounding agencies. Officers apprehended one suspect hiding in the area that was armed with a high powered rifle and handgun. Suspect was identified as JMichael Gray ,21, of Franklin La. Gray was charged with Firearm Free Zone/ Notice/ Signs, Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities, Criminal Trespass, Possession of Armor Piercing Bullets, and Resisting an Officer. Within further investigation, it was learned that Gray was wanted with the New Orleans Police Department.

Chief Moore would like to thank the following agencies with their cooperation and assistance with the investigation Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office, St Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jeanerette Marshal Office, Jeanerette Fire Department, and Iberia Fire District 1.
