Arrest Made in Jeanerette Peach Street Homicide; Second Suspect Wanted

The Jeanerette Police Department has apprehended 18-year-old Jeremy Smith Jr. in connection to the June 16, 2023, homicide on the 1800 Block of Peach Street. Smith has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities are currently seeking assistance from the public to locate a second suspect, 19-year-old Jason Joe Jr. Joe is wanted on charges of being an accomplice to first-degree murder. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Jeanerette Police Department at 337-276-6323, with the guarantee of anonymity.

Please note that anyone found aiding Joe can be charged with aiding and abetting a fugitive.
