Funeral Services celebrating the life of Emma Naquin Rochel will be held Tuesday, January 3rd, 2023, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Bayou Vista, LA. A gathering of friends and family will be held from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM followed by the rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will held at 11:00 AM. Fr. Joel Faulk will officiate with Father Angelo Cremaldi concelebrating. Following she will be laid to rest in the Patterson Protestant Cemetery.
Emma Rochel was born September 6th, 1934, and was the fifth of seven children born to Paul and Edmonia Naquin. A native and resident of Baldwin, she passed away at the age of 88, peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, December 28, 2022.
Emma, with a smile that could brighten anyone’s day, never knew a stranger. She was most proud of her family, particularly her “4 boys” as she often referred to them. She loved following her grandchildren and great grandchildren in sports and was known by name at all of their games.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include four sons, Greg Rochel and his wife Verna, Tim Rochel and his fiancée Jeannie Hebert, Mark Rochel, and Glenn Rochel and his wife Bobbie; two siblings, Paul Naquin Jr. and Betty Naquin Grow; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 64 years, Willis “Hale” Rochel; her parents, Paul Naquin Sr. and Edmonia Guillot Naquin; two brothers, Ernest Naquin and Harold Naquin; and two sisters, Vivian “V” Waldon and Goldie Thibodeaux.
Pallbearers selected will be her four sons, Greg Rochel, Tim Rochel Sr., Mark Rochel, and Glenn Rochel Sr., and Paul Naquin Jr., and Robbie Grow. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, known as Emma’s crew.
