Cleanup and Investigation Continue in Iberia Parish Train Derailment

On Monday, August 21, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office began receiving calls regarding a train derailment on LA Highway 182 and Airport Boulevard. Deputies began closing off nearby roads.

The following roads are still closed at this time: LA Highway 182 from LA Highway 674 (NW Bypass Road) and LA Highway 182 at LA Highway 88.

Sheriff Thomas S. Romero asked that everyone please avoid Highway 182 as crews begin to work to clear the area. This portion of Highway 182 will be closed until further notice. Please plan alternate routes for work and school.
