Alyssa L. Ashmore, 32 years old, of River Rd. Berwick, LA, was arrested on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 5:42PM, on the following charges:
Distribution of Schedule V CDS – Codeine
Cruelty to Juveniles
Contributing to the Delinquency of Juveniles – CDS Law
On Thursday, August 25, 2022, the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services (LA DCFS) contacted detectives with the Berwick Police Department to report that their office received a report that a female made her two juvenile children sell drugs on her behalf. In addition to the investigation being handled by LA DCFS, a criminal investigation was immediately initiated. Through investigation, Alyssa Ashmore was identified as the suspect. Investigators interviewed witnesses and obtained video evidence that supported the reports made to LA DCFS. On Friday morning, investigators made contact with Ashmore and interviewed her at the Berwick Police Department. During the interview, Ashmore admitted to sending two of her juvenile children to a location late at night to deliver prescription medication to another individual. The medication that was delivered contained codeine, which is a controlled dangerous substance. A search warrant was executed at Ashmore’s residence and investigators located more evidence to support the distribution of the medication. Following the investigation, arrest warrants were secured for her arrest and she was booked into the Berwick Jail. Ashmore’s children were placed into the custody of LA DCFS. Ashmore remains jailed with no bond set.
Lorenzo Medina Ramirez, 20 years old, of Hwy 182 Patterson, LA, was arrested on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at 5:58PM, on the following charges:
Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Crash
No Driver’s License
On August 27, 2022, at 5:25PM, officers responded to a two vehicle crash that occurred on Hwy. 90. Upon arrival, officers made contact with Medina-Ramirez. It was learned that Medina-Ramirez did not have a driver’s license. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Careless Operation of a Motor Vehicle with a Crash and No Driver’s License. He was released after posting a $302.00 cash bond.
Deontay Jones, 26 years old, of Taft St. Patterson, LA, was arrested on Sunday, August 28, 2022, at 4:56PM, on the following charge:
Possession of Marijuana (Over 14 Grams)
On August 28, 2022, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for speeding. During the course of the stop, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Jones was identified as a passenger inside the vehicle and during a search, marijuana was located which he stated belonged to him. Jones was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charge of Possession of Marijuana (over 14 grams). He was released after posting a $2,000.00 bond.
