Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Mark Hilliard B/M 40 Live Oak St. Patterson was arrested on May 12, 2023 at 01:33 AM for
- TWO HEADLIGHTS REQUIRED
- TWO TAIL LIGHTS REQUIRED
- NO DRIVER’S LICENSE ON PERSON
- POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CDS METHAMPHETAMINE
On May 12, 2023 at 01:21 AM officers in the area of LA Hwy. 182 observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with Hilliard. During the course of the stop Hilliard was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine. Hilliard was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Two Headlights Required, Two Taillights Required, No Driver’s License on Person, and Possession of Schedule II CDS Methamphetamine.
Jeremie Watson B/M 41 Glenwood St. Morgan City was arrested on May 14, 2023 at 12:42 AM for
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
- AGGRAVATED OBSTRUCTION OF A HIGHWAY
- RECKLESS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE
- RESISTING AN OFFICER
- NO DRIVER’S LICENSE
- NO HEADLIGHTS
On May 14, 2023 at approximately 12:30 AM an officer in the area of US Hwy. 90 observed a vehicle travelling East with no headlights. The vehicle was observed driving erratic and nearly ran several vehicles off the roadway. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle at which time the driver began driving at high rates of speed and continuing to run others off the road. After a brief pursuit, the driver stopped and was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Watson. While speaking with Watson, he showed signs of obvious impairment. A strong odor of Marijuana was detected from the vehicle. Upon searching, marijuana and paraphernalia were located inside. Watson was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he refused all SFST testing and intoxilyzer test. Watson was booked on the above charges.
