Berwick Arrest Report 4-23-2024

Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests beginning from April 18, 2024:

Thursday April 18,2024

Lennis Paray W/M 39 of Berwick was arrested on Thursday April 18, 2024 at 10:37 AM for

  • BERWICK WARRANT- 4 COUNTS CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
  • RESISTING AN OFFICER
  • POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I CDS MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 GRAMS)

On April 18,2024 at approximately 10:24 AM the Berwick Police Department received a call of a person sleeping in an abandoned residence. Upon arrival, officers located Paray and knew for him to have active warrants through the Berwick Police Department. Paray fled on foot and was taken into custody a short time later where he was found to be in possession of Marijuana. Paray was transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the above charges.

Friday April 19,2024

Bryant Harris B/M 36 of Morgan City was arrested on April 19,2024 at 11:00 PM for

  • MORGAN CITY WARRANT- FELONY CARNAL KNOWLEDGE OF A JUVENILE

On April 19,2024 at approximately 10:30 PM the Berwick Police Department received a call of a reckless driver on US Hwy. 90. A description was given and officers were able to locate and conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. During the course of the stop, Harris was identified as a passenger inside the vehicle. A warrants check showed that Harris had active warrants through the Morgan City Police Department. Harris was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked.

Saturday April 20,2024

Michael Thompson W/M 38 of Morgan City was arrested on April 20,2024 at 12:35 PM for

  • DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 1ST OFFENSE
  • POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II CDS METHAMPHETAMINE
  • POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
  • NO INSURANCE

Jeremy Blackburn B/M 45 of Morgan City was arrested on April 20,2024 at 12:49 PM for

  • WARRANT-FTA FOR POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE
  • WARRANT- THEFT LESS THAN $1,000.00

On April 20,2024 at approximately 12:10 PM the Berwick Police Department received numerous calls regarding a stalled vehicle on the US Hwy. 90 Bridge. Upon arrival, officers met with the driver who was identified as Thompson and his passenger Blackburn. While speaking with Thompson, impairment from narcotics were detected. Sobriety tests were conducted and he performed poorly on. A search of the vehicle was conducted and Methamphetamine and paraphernalia that was determined to belong to Thompson was located. It was also learned that Blackburn had active warrants through the 16th JDC. Both were placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department for booking.

Tuesday April 23,2024

Lawrence Vito W/M 38 of Patterson was arrested on April 23,2024 at 04:48 AM for

  • BERWICK WARRANT-HIT AND RUN

In December 2023 officers with the Berwick Police Department responded to a two vehicle crash at a local business where one of the drivers left the scene. Through video and other investigative means, officers were able to determine that Vito was the driver in the vehicle that fled. In April 2024 warrants were issued for his arrest and on April 23, 2024 Vito came to the Berwick Police Department and turned himself him on the active warrant. He was placed under arrest without incident.

Chance Bourgeois W/M 17 of Morgan City was arrested on April 23, 2024 at 09:22 AM for

  • BERWICK WARRANT- 2 COUNTS CRIMINAL TRESPASSING
  • BERWICK WARRANT- SIMPLE CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
  • BERWICK WARRANT- SIMPLE ASSAULT

On Friday April 19,2024 the Berwick Police Department responded to a vandalism complaint. Upon arrival officers met with the complainant who advised that Bourgeois and several others had damaged his vehicle and made threats to him and his family earlier in the evening. Through investigation, evidence was gathered linking Bourgeois to the crimes. Warrants were issued and on April 23, 2024 Bourgeois came to the Berwick Police Department and turned himself in on the active warrants. He was placed under arrest and booked without incident.
