Belle Rose Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening To Harm An Attorney’s Family

NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Terrance Joseph Dupaty, Jr., 26, of 135 Dorseyville Lane, Belle Rose, LA, on felony charges arising out of an extortion investigation occurring in June of 2021.

At that time, the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint from an area attorney who indicated that Terrance Joseph Dupaty, Jr. had threatened to harm the attorney’s family if the attorney did not return retainer funds to Dupaty for work already performed. The attorney provided evidence related to the complaint.

At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives determined that probable cause existed to charge Terrance Joseph Dupaty, Jr. with extortion and accordingly, secured an arrest warrant.

Terrance Joseph Dupaty, Jr. was being held on unrelated charges in Ascension Parish.

On Thursday, Dupaty was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on charges of:

  • Extortion
  • Failure to Appear – Assumption Parish on June 28, 2021, on charges of Resisting an Officer and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Bond on Dupaty was set at $50,000 and he was returned to the Ascension Parish Jail.
