MORGAN CITY — A man who died following an early Saturday morning house fire in Morgan City has been identified as Quentin Jones, 35, according to the St. Mary Parish Coroner’s Office.
Police and firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Sixth Street shortly before 4 a.m. on October 31.
Before emergency crews arrived, a passerby found Jones unconscious at the home’s doorstep, moved him to safety and began rendering aid, officials said.
Firefighters battled the flames while searching the residence for possible additional occupants. The Berwick Fire Department also responded to assist because of the extent of the fire.
Jones was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
