A Raceland man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that injured a 20-year-old man earlier this month, according to Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre.

Curon Ross, 20, was taken into custody Friday morning, October 30, on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.

Deputies responded to the 100 block of Brocato Lane in Raceland around 1:25 p.m. on October 12 after receiving a report of a shooting. They found a white sedan with apparent bullet damage and learned the vehicle owner’s boyfriend had been inside when the shooting occurred. He suffered gunshot wounds to both arms and was airlifted to a hospital.

Investigators identified Ross as a suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest and a search of his residence. Deputies arrested him at his home Friday morning and reported finding an illegally altered firearm during the search.

Ross was transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. During booking, correctional officers allegedly discovered suspected marijuana and Suboxone concealed on his person.
In addition to attempted second-degree murder, Ross faces charges of taking contraband to a penal institution, possession of Suboxone, possession of marijuana and possession of an illegally transferred weapon. His bail was set at $1,081,000.

The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities say additional charges are pending.
