RACELAND, La. — A 36-year-old Lockport man died Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 308, north of U.S. Highway 90, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troop C began investigating the crash shortly after 6 a.m. on October 12.

Investigators said a 2010 Dodge Ram was traveling south on Highway 308 when its driver attempted to turn left into a private driveway. A 2007 Suzuki Boulevard motorcycle was traveling north when the Dodge turned into its path. The motorcycle struck the truck’s right front quarter panel.

The motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. State Police said he was wearing a DOT-approved helmet, but it was not properly secured. His name was not included in the release.

The Dodge driver was properly restrained and was not injured. Troopers reported that the driver showed no signs of impairment and voluntarily provided a breath sample, which detected no alcohol.

A standard toxicology sample was collected from the motorcyclist and submitted for analysis.

The crash remains under investigation.
