BELLE ROSE, La. (April 6, 2026) — A Donaldsonville man is behind bars following a dangerous pursuit in Assumption Parish that authorities say put lives at risk.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reported the arrest of 32-year-old Tate Joseph Mouret in connection with a traffic incident that occurred Friday afternoon on LA Highway 70 near Paincourtville.

According to officials, a uniformed patrol deputy attempted to stop a vehicle after observing a traffic violation. Instead of stopping, the driver continued northbound onto LA Highway 1, leading deputies on a pursuit.
During the chase, authorities say the suspect intentionally attempted to strike two police units, creating a significant risk of serious injury or death to both deputies and the public. The pursuit continued at moderate speeds before the vehicle was ultimately stopped north of Belle Rose.

Mouret was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies later obtained a search warrant to collect a blood sample for toxicology testing. Following the procedure, Mouret was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on multiple charges, including:

Driving While Intoxicated (4th Offense)
Aggravated Flight from an Officer
Resisting an Officer (3 counts)
Driving Under a Suspended License
Possession of Alcoholic Beverages in a Motor Vehicle

Authorities confirmed Mouret remains incarcerated and is being held without bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
