Candidate Qualifying Set for May 16 Municipal Primary in St. Mary Parish

FRANKLIN, La. — The St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court’s Office has announced qualifying dates for candidates seeking to run in the upcoming May 16, 2026 Municipal Primary Election.

Candidates may sign up to run for several local offices, including Mayor and Councilman of Franklin, Justice of the Peace for Ward 8 in St. Mary Parish (Special Election), and Councilman for District 5 in Morgan City (Special Election).

Qualifying will take place at the St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court’s Office, located at 500 Main Street, 2nd Floor, in Franklin, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., beginning Wednesday, February 11, 2026, and continuing through Friday, February 13, 2026.

Officials encourage prospective candidates to review all requirements and fees prior to qualifying. Information regarding qualifying fees and additional election details is available online at stmaryparishclerkofcourt.com.

The Municipal Primary Election will be held on May 16, 2026.
