Napoleonville Woman Arrested on Cruelty to a Juvenile Charge

NAPOLEONVILLE — Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of Amaya Simone Bougere, 21, of Thomas Street in Napoleonville, on a felony charge stemming from a child abuse investigation that began in November.

The investigation originated on November 8, 2025, after detectives responded to a complaint at a local healthcare facility involving a 15-month-old child. Investigators learned the child was being treated for bruising and injuries to the arms and legs. Medical personnel diagnosed the child with a fractured ankle and fractured arm, and detectives observed severe bruising to the child’s arm and facial area.

Due to the severity of the injuries, the child was transferred to a children’s hospital, where further medical evaluation determined the child had suffered multiple fractures, including facial fractures. Medical staff also determined the child was malnourished.
The Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services was notified and intervened in the investigation. Through continued investigation, detectives identified Bougere as a suspect.

On November 17, 2025, detectives executed a search warrant at the child’s residence on Thomas Street in Paincourtville. During the search, investigators seized an assortment of controlled dangerous substances, leading to the arrest of Bougere and her domestic partner, Bruce Joseph Fair Jr., 28.

Both Bougere and Fair remain incarcerated on the drug-related charges.
On January 21, 2026, Bougere was additionally booked on a charge of Cruelty to a Juvenile. She remains in custody and is awaiting a bond hearing on the child abuse charge.
