NAPOLEONVILLE – Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon has announced that 29-year-old Gage Austin Gros, of 5882 Highway 1 in Paincourtville, has been arrested on an additional charge of Second-Degree Rape involving a child under the age of 16. The incident is reported to have occurred in March 2014 at a residence in Paincourtville.

Gros was already incarcerated on a previous First-Degree Rape charge in Assumption Parish. In that case, a 23rd Judicial District Court Judge ordered that Gros be held without bond. The original investigation was referred to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Montgomery, Texas.

During the most recent investigation, detectives traveled to Texas to interview an involved party. Following that interview and continued investigative work, an arrest warrant was issued for Gros.

Gros has now been booked on one count of:

  • Second-Degree Rape

A 23rd Judicial District Court Judge has set Gros’ bond at $1,000,000 in connection with the latest charge. He remains housed at the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are working to identify any additional potential victims.
