Human Remains Found in Wooded Area Near Alma Street and Richard Drive in Terrebonne Parish

HOUMA – Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet has confirmed that detectives with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) are investigating the discovery of what appears to be human skeletal remains found in a wooded area near Alma Street and Richard Drive in Houma.

Deputies responded to the scene after receiving reports of the discovery, where they verified the presence of skeletal remains. TPSO detectives and crime scene investigators were called to the area and immediately launched an investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

Sheriff Soignet described the case as both unique and complex, noting that investigators are working diligently to uncover the facts.

> “Our detectives have continued to work this investigation steadily since the discovery,” said Sheriff Soignet. “This is certainly a unique and complex case, but I have confidence that our team will do what is necessary to uncover the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident. We ask for patience and understanding from our community as the investigation continues.”

 

Authorities say the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
